Beschreibung:
Without a resonance body the vibration of a string would be hardly audible. That is why the vibration is transmitted to the body of the violin which causes the air volume inside the body to start vibrating as well. Material and shape of the violin body are chosen in such a way that, for one thing, good amplification (resonance) occurs with as many different frequencies as possible. Because of the natural frequencies of the individual parts and that of the body of the violin, certain harmonics and upper harmonics are amplified more or produced additionally. That's what creates the individual tone character of every individual violin.
