Barometer box
Image
Photo:
Aneroid box with needle from a mechanical desktop barometer. The aneroid box is made from very sturdy, flexible metal. The air is pumped out, and then the box is tightly sealed (for example, through soldering). The higher the external air pressure, the more the box curves toward the inside. Conversely, if the external air pressure decreases, the box curves toward the outside.
