Description:
The teacher instructions include information on the following: the main question, relevance to the curriculum, skills, notes on conducting the subexperiments, the research group, further research assignments, and the reference to values.
The experiment comprises three subexperiments:
• Potatoes make us strong
• Protein shake
• Fat detectives
A balanced, fresh diet is very important so that our bodies can produce their own substances from the nutrients. The body obtains these nutrients through the digestion of food from plants and animals. But which nutrients are vital for humans? In addition to vitamins, minerals, fiber, trace elements, and water, the body must receive sufficient protein, carbohydrates, and fat via food. Carbohydrates and fats are important for producing energy, and humans need protein to build up the body.
Notes:
• Observe the safety information in the instructions as well as the applicable safety guidelines for your school.
• All materials mentioned in the instructions will have to be purchased directly from commercial sources.
