Description:
The speed of the music in a department store is linked to the human pulse (about 70 beats a minute). A constant level of loudness is set at about 3 decibels above the general noise level.
Harmonious tones dominate and loud shrill combinations are always avoided. The sound is often produced synthetically. Although it is not even noticed consciously after a while the constant exposure can become a strain.
Information and ideas:
Recording to be identified by students or used for sound effects for a recorded play/story.
