Worksheet:
Why does water spray out of a bottle of sparkling mineral water that has been shaken before it is opened? And why does sparkling mineral water in a glass bubble more vigorously if you add some salt to it?

Based on experience gained during experiments, the students should find out what causes many bubbles to quickly form in the sparkling mineral water when the bottle is shaken or when salt is added. They should verify their guesses based on the experiments and write down the reasons.
Incremental hints for answering this task are available under “Fizzy water (hints for printing)” or “Fizzy water (interactive hints)” on the media portal of the Siemens Stiftung. The worksheet includes QR codes for using the interactive hints online and viewing the solution.
