Long ago, people used waterwheels to harness the energy of water, for example, to drive a mill wheel. The turbines that are used in hydroelectric plant are a further development of the classic waterwheel to drive generators for electric power generation. These turbines are named after their inventors: Pelton, Kaplan, and Francis.
