Description:
The students will learn about medicinal plants found in tropical rainforests: First they will search for the names of as many different medicinal plants as possible found in tropical rainforests. They will further investigate five plants from their search results (geographical origin, medicinal benefit, etc.). Then they will reflect on the medicines they themselves take from the viewpoint of whether these medicines contain ingredients from medicinal plants of rainforests.
For further study, teachers can have the students research the topic “Biopiracy."
Students should need approx. 30 minutes to complete the inquiry task (without further study).
