Description:
The photo on the left shows a road being built in French Guiana. The satellite image on the right shows the Mato Grosso region in Brazil. In both cases, viewers can clearly recognize that the rainforest is being deforested on both sides of the road. Deforestation usually takes place on 1-hectare parcels, which are very easy to recognize on the satellite image (small brown squares).
