Description:
The students write their own procedure for the everyday situation of “putting on your shoes.” The procedure should come as close as possible to the properties of algorithms specified in the definition. Potential errors and difficulties become clear when the students try out each other’s procedures. It becomes obvious that developing flawless algorithms is a huge challenge.
Information and ideas:
• Working through the following media of the media package beforehand is useful for creating a basis for this teaching idea:
Graphic “Algorithms – Introduction: Algorithms in everyday life – Brushing your teeth”
Information sheet “Algorithms – Definition of algorithm and algorithmic system”
• The teaching unit is designed for a double teaching period of 90 minutes.
