Description:
The value octagon depicts eight areas from technology, the environment, the economy, and society that play a particular role in the weighting of values related to complex and comprehensive topics. The value octagon can be used, for example, to systematically analyze and evaluate the advantages and disadvantages for different areas of life brought about by a new technology. This method involves not only comparing different values, but also primarily analyzing possible interdependencies (e.g., between the environment and health or between personal and economic benefits).
The instructions contain background information on goals and possible applications, preparation, and implementation and on recording and analyzing the results of the value octagon.
